HELP END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS IN ZIMBABWERAPE SURVIVORS NEED OUR SUPPORT
#BEYONDSURVIVING
Survivors of rape and sexual assault endure long term complications. They often find themselves in traumatic situations where they fail to fend for themselves and sometimes their families as a result of divorce, abandonment, dishonour or community exclusion. This increases their vulnerability to further victimisation, health problems, exploitation and marginalisation. While ARC through partners and donors continues to deal with the physical and mental impact of sexual assault survivors also incur long-term economic costs with life-long impacts. Furthermore, sexual assault can affect the survivors’ education and employment, particularly if the assault took place at school or if the offender was a supervisor or co-worker. Some survivors lose control of their livelihood also affecting those who depend on them.
